Privacy notice
Who we are
Reunite is operated by [REGISTERED COMPANY NAME] (registration number [NUMBER]), an entity registered in South Africa with its address at [PHYSICAL ADDRESS]. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here.
Our Information Officer is [NAME], reachable at privacy@letsreunite.co.za.
What we collect right now
Reunite is in pre-launch. At this stage the only information we collect is what you type into the waitlist or school enquiry form on this site:
- Your name and email address, and your WhatsApp number if you give it
- The name of your school and your town or suburb
- Your role, if you are contacting us on behalf of a school
- Whether you have agreed to be contacted on WhatsApp
- Your answers about lost property, spending, pricing and concerns — used in aggregate to decide what we build
We do not ask for information about your children, and you should not enter any. POPIA places specific restrictions on processing the personal information of children, and we have deliberately designed these forms so that none is needed.
What we will collect once the service runs
When Reunite launches, the service will link a label's identifier to a parent's mobile number so that a notification can be sent. A label identifier is a random code — it carries no name, no address and no information about a child. The chips are passive: they hold no location history and cannot be read outside the short range of a school reader. We will update this notice, and tell you, before any of that begins.
Why we process it
- To contact you about the pilot and about Reunite becoming available
- To decide which schools to approach first
- To understand demand, pricing and objections so we build the right thing
We rely on your consent, given when you tick the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information and we do not share it with advertisers. We use third-party service providers to host this site, receive form submissions and send messages, and they process the information on our instructions only. Notifications are delivered over WhatsApp, which means your mobile number and the content of those messages pass through Meta Platforms and are subject to their terms as well as ours. Some providers store data outside South Africa; where that happens, we only use providers subject to laws or binding agreements that give comparable protection, as POPIA requires.
We will not give a school the answers you gave us as an identifiable individual. Schools see aggregate interest, not your survey responses.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist details until Reunite launches in your area and for a reasonable period afterwards, or until you ask us to delete them — whichever comes first. If we decide not to proceed, we delete the list.
How we protect it
Access is limited to the people who need it, transmission is encrypted, and we keep the amount we hold deliberately small. No system is perfect, and if a breach affects your information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct or delete it
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- Object to us processing your information
- Complain to the Information Regulator
Email privacy@letsreunite.co.za and we will act on it. You can reach the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
Cookies
This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies. If we add analytics later we will say so here and ask before setting anything that is not strictly necessary.
Changes
We will update this notice as the service develops and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will email you first.
